As you already
know your support paved the way for us in building a dog rehabilitation
and rescue center in the Philippines. Keeping the operation
of this haven equally keeps us busy aside from doing investigations
and going after the dog-meat traders. We want to assure you,
though, that our hands are never tied exploring means and
ways in fully promoting the welfare of these victimized dogs.
We have various activities and programs targeted to spread
the highest possible way of animal welfare in the Philippines.
•
ADOPTION PROGRAM - This system fully benefits
the once slaughter-bound dogs; they get to be re-homed and
ensured TLC by their new owners. IWCT/AKF
employs strict guidelines for this program; we have laid-out
random and surprise visits to all adopted dogs aside from
pre-evaluations of the would-be-adoptors' home and getting
significant dynamics and details which determine their capacity
to go home with our rehabilitated dogs. Presently, 65 happy
dogs have found new equally happy owners.
• ANIMAL WELFARE SEMINARS
- Educating significant groups, agencies and organizations
is likewise high on our agenda since these seminars have produced
important tip-offs, police checkpoints seizing deliveries,
development of trusted informants and rising animal welfare
awareness among students, young urban professionals, and most
especially, the police's body of students.
• PET-SHOWS & ANIMAL AWARENESS
ACTIVITIES - Aside from acquiring revenues from selling
IWCT/AKF shirts during these
activities, we have also received some needed dog-food donations
from various pet shops and businesses.
• INVESTIGATIONS & SURVEILLANCES
- The riskier part of saving the Philippine dogs is carried
out by our determined and passionate researchers. This leads
to dogs being rescued from illegal slaughterhouses, closure
of dog-meat restaurants plus interception of vehicles carrying
suffering dogs.
• COMMITTEE on ANIMAL WELFARE MEMBERSHIP
- Our inclusion into this pool of relevant government animal
welfare agencies have resulted to us leading the lobbying
in congress for the amendments of the existing animal-welfare
laws. More significantly, a new act, the Anti Rabies Act (RA9482)
has recently been signed by the Philippine president.
